The Press is Regaining Our Trust

In a recent U.S. News report Gabrielle Levy wrote that the trust in the American media has increased by almost 10% since during the Trump presidency. While confidence in his role as president has decreased, it looks like his attacks on his media and calling them the enemy of the American people have had the opposite effect that he was trying to achieve.

I think one reason for this as the article points out is that there has been such a high turn over rate within his cabinet signaling discord not just within the cabinet but also within the Republican party as a whole. Not being able to get legislation passed with control of the senate, house, and presidency shows a lack of solidarity on policy and priorities. Declaring the media an enemy of the people alienates the presidency when the media is supposed to act as a conduit for information from the government to the people.

I liked that this article pointed out some of the problems with the administration's handling of the relationship with the media and how that is, in turn, effecting the levels of trust within the public.
